Edith Morley is believed to have been the first woman professor in this country.

In our 2015 grants round, the Friends supported the publication by Reading-based Two Rivers Press of her memoir – Before and After written in 1944. The book was launched in the Great Hall at this special University event which celebrated Reading 2016 Year of Culture and the University’s 90th Anniversary of gaining its Charter: In Conversation with Karen Blackett, OBE Chairwoman of MediaCom UK.
