Reading Windrush exhibition

Good afternoon,
I am interested in applying to the Friends of the University in partnership with the Reading Windrush Group for the upcoming Reading Windrush 75th Festival.
We are currently exploring holding a music event on campus as part of the Festival and we would like to hold an exhibition about the Windrush generation. We are looking for £2000 to run the exhibition which will include the following –
  • Creation of roller banners presenting The Enigma of Arrival exhibition – The Enigma of Arrival Exhibition | 2nd Generation of Barbadians & Friends Birmingham (2ndgenbdosbham.org.uk)
  • Creative interactive activity – we will invite the local community who are part of the Windrush generation to create ‘zines’. These will look like newspaper/magazine cuttings where people share their memories and lived experiences of being part of the Windrush generation. We would be looking for funding to design and print the zines.
  • Windrush information pack – this will be a small booklet for guests to takeaway containing information about the Windrush generation and the support services available in Reading to people who are part of the Windrush generation.
It would be great to know whether this project is eligible and whether you need any further information. So you’re aware, the Reading Windrush Group are currently waiting to see if a separate external funding application has been successful to run the music event. Regardless of whether that is successful, we would intend to go ahead with the exhibition as part of the wider Reading Windrush 75th Festival activities.
