I would like to apply for £500 towards the production of the History of Sport at the University of Reading booklet.

For the last couple of years the following people have been involved in the production of the booklet (low resolution PDF attached):

Iain Akhurst, retired director of sport 2004-2019

Chris Lewis, typography student who undertook the design as part of his degree (Real Work Project supervised by James Lloyd)

Prof. Cedric Brown, retired English professor who copy wrote the booklet

Dr. Margaret Holbrook, retired history lecturer who undertook the research

The design and format of the booklet is based on the booklet that was produced to celebrate 80 Years of the University which was written by Prof. Brown.

The purpose of the History of Sport booklet is to celebrate the achievements of the students over the last hundred years and document the development of sport and the facilities. It is hoped the booklet will be used as one of the centre pieces when the University holds the next induction of students/alumni into the Sports Hall of Fame. It is planned that the new inductions will take place after the Tokyo Olympics thissummer.

The sponsoring member of staff is Greg Goddard, Head of SportsPark.
